T20 Stumbles

4 early wickets was not enough for the Plateau to stop a hard hitting Wakehurst in yesterdays 2nd round Twenty20 clash at Nolans.

CPCC lost the toss but got what they wanted when Wakehurst elected to bowl. The opening partnership did not produce like the last game, with David being caught in slips 2nd ball. Josh, however, continued his red hot form belting 60. Rob was run out attempting a quick single on 9. New team member Jimmy Maroulis looked in great touch as he hit a very quick 23. Doug Campbell followed that up with 17. From there nobody could stay with Toth, Brendo was run out for 4 and Nick Eade was given LBW for a duck. Josh was then finally caught. Jeff added 15 to the total before he was bowled and from there the Plateau could add not much more being bowled out in the last over for 143.

Brendo struck early in the Wakehurst innings and had 3 wickets after his first 2 overs. There was also a run out in the 2nd over and Wakehurst were hurt at 4/. Unfortunately from there the Plateau could not dent Wakehurst any further, they had no shortage of big hitters.

Wakehurst cruised to the total, achieving it in the 17th over.

The loss means that the Plateau's final pool match against Harbord Diggers on the 6th of December will be sudden death. Wakehurst progress into the semi-finals.

CPCC TV footage coming soon.
